River Water Initiative

Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, yet millions of people around the world still lack reliable access to safe drinking water. The River Water initiative is CHF's commitment to addressing this crisis head-on, one community at a time.

The Water Crisis

Every day, children and families in developing nations drink contaminated water that leads to devastating diseases including cholera, typhoid, and dysentery. Water-borne illnesses remain one of the leading causes of death for children under five in the developing world. The River Water initiative exists to change this reality.

Our Approach

We work with local communities and partner organizations to identify the most effective clean water solutions for each region. This may include well-drilling, water filtration systems, rainwater harvesting, or spring protection. Every project is designed to be maintained by the community itself, ensuring long-term sustainability.

Our Impact

Through the River Water initiative, CHF has provided clean water access to thousands of families across East Africa, Central America, and the Caribbean. Communities with access to clean water see dramatic reductions in childhood illness, increased school attendance, and improved economic productivity as families spend less time and energy sourcing water.
